Some things to consider before buying any of the other manufacturers alternator kits that are out there.
Our pulley design requires only 6lbs of belt tension and incorporates a design that eliminates belt slip and dramatically reduces bearing load, HP draw and belt and pulley ware. It is the most efficient, longest lasting, innovative design available.
Some quick notes…
-A v-belt drive requires 50-100 lbs to reduce belt slip, this means a much Higher HP draw than other designs.
-More belt tension results in 1, extra bearing load, 2, higher HP draw and frictional resistance, and 3, quicker belt and pulley ware not to mention other manufacturers crank pulleys are UNCOATED alum., it will ware in no time and there alternator pulley is steel, more reciprocating weight, again ill-efficient.
-Our belt drive will not slip unlike the V-belt. The v-belt drive is especially doomed if it gets wet! The basis of a V-Belt Drive is to incorperate belt slip to reduce torque loads on components in high HP high inertia drives, (definatley not the case here)… other words it is designed to slip…
-Our alternator has a 55 amp idle output 70-75 amp max output unit, it will produce this output all day every day without breaking a sweat.
-Judging from the appearance of other manufacturers alternators it is 35 amp unit chassis. They are saying it’s a 60 amp unit. If it is truly 60 amps, someone is rewinding them to produce a higher output; this means they are working the alternator 3+ times harder than its design intended resulting in a much shorter life. A 35 amp unit wound to produce 60 amps will NOT charge at lower RPM, there alternator will need to spin 3000 RPM to even start charging, 6500-7000 RPM to produce 60 amps if it is capable, and 12,000-14,000 RPM to run cool enough to not burn up. Other manufacturers are also running a 1:1 pulley ratio, the alternator will be spinning the same RPM as the engine… Our kit uses a 32 tooth crank pulley and a 24 tooth alternator pulley achieving 133% crank speed at the alternator

We suggest you also purchase RZR4 Optima Battery Box with this kit. That way you can leave your stock battery and charging system the way it is and have a totally separate charging system and battery. For example, run all your accessories off of the alternator and Optima so if you run your battery dead listening to the stereo out on the trail you can still start the RZR 4 with the stock battery. You never know when you will need it!
